Salary: $55,000 - $70,000

Position Description:

The Student Ministry Director, reporting to the Family Director, directs the spiritual growth of the middle school and high school students of Victory Church. The Director is responsible for leading a weekly service for middle/high school students, direct an ongoing discipleship program (including small groups), conducting annual events such as camps, retreats, outreaches and mission trips. The Student Ministry Director leads efforts to recruit, train, and develop volunteer teams and leaders, both students and adults. S/He ensures the student ministry is healthy and operates in a way that is consistent with the mission and guiding principles of the church. The expectation of the Student Ministry Director is to give leadership that enables this ministry area to grow “deep and wide,” attracting new students to bring numerical growth while simultaneously creating an atmosphere for discipleship and spiritual growth.

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a ministry related field

- Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar ministry position, preferably in an equivalent or larger

church size (500+)

- Proven ability to grow a student ministry numerically and spiritually, preferably having given

oversight to a student ministry of 75+

- Strong verbal and written communication abilities, including comfort with public speaking

- Presents with an enthusiastic, patient, friendly, and professional demeanor

- Trustworthy; able to anticipate needs and priorities independently; focuses on the tasks at hand

and efficient follow-through

• Possess general proficiency with Mac applications, Church Community Builder, Basecamp, etc.
• Agree with and represent Victory Church’s Statement of Faith

Position-specific Responsibilities:

- Give direct spiritual and leadership oversight to all aspects of the middle and high school student

ministry of Victory Church.

• Serve as a traditional “youth pastor,” conducting a weekly service in which the Student Ministry Director is the primary communicator.
• Recruit, train, and develop volunteer teams and leaders
• Work with Family Director to develop and administer a comprehensive spiritual growth plan for the students of Victory Church including small groups and other discipleship-focused programs.
• Encourage and equip parents to be involved in the spiritual formation of their students
• Conduct an annual camp/retreat
• Host events targeted toward connecting unreached/unchurched students at least twice annually.
• Manage and operate the Student Ministry budget.
• Provide Biblical counseling, prayer and ministry to students and their families as needed
• Work with the Family Director/Family Ministry team to grow campus attendance by implementing strategies that draw families to the church through the Kids and Student ministries
• Partner with Victory Kids Ministry for events as needed to create seamless opportunities for kids to grow in their faith from birth through high school

General responsibilities for pastoral and director roles:

• Ensure that all areas of ministry oversight are healthy and operating in a way that is consistent with the mission and guiding principles of Victory Church.
• Handle expense reports, check requests, deposits, reimbursements and other administrative tasks.
• Communicate with volunteer leaders and teams regarding pertinent ministry information.
• Help plan and execute special events, including the preparation of resources and materials, promotion, registration, follow-up, etc.
• Provide Biblical counseling, prayer and ministry to people as needed.
• Perform other duties as best fits the needs of the Senior Pastor and Family Director.
• Serve as an active member of the church congregation by attending services, small groups and church events.
• Attend staff meetings, retreats, and other church functions, as directed.
• Maintain a disciplined life of worship, Bible reading, prayer, fasting, tithing and giving.
