Job Details The Plant Financial Controller is a key member of the site's leadership team, overseeing the financial operations of the plant and distribution center while ensuring compliance with GAAP. This role is instrumental in providing financial insights to enhance decision-making, operational efficiency, and overall site performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting: Prepare, analyze, and manage monthly financial reports and operational statements. Handle month-end journal entries, accruals, and variance analysis, ensuring accurate data reporting and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) tracking for plant management and corporate finance teams.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Lead the development of the site’s annual budget and quarterly forecasts, including production, yields, labor utilization, overhead spend, capital investments, shipping plans, and inventory targets. Monitor and report on performance against these plans.
Balance Sheet Management: Maintain accurate support and reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts such as Inventory, Reserves, prepaids, and accruals.
Variance Analysis: Analyze production costs related to materials, labor, and overhead. Implement cost-saving initiatives and identify areas for efficiency improvement. Lead the annual standard cost update.
Cost Savings Initiatives: Track and analyze cost-saving projects, helping the site achieve its financial goals and identify further opportunities.
Financial Planning: Drive ROI analysis for proposed capital investments.
Internal Controls: Ensure strong internal controls related to inventory, segregation of duties, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Audit Support: Serve as the key liaison with internal and external auditors, ensuring all documentation and information required for financial audits are prepared and provided.
Process Improvement: Identify and execute process improvements to enhance financial operations, data accuracy, and reporting efficiency.
Strategic Support: Collaborate with site and corporate teams to analyze and execute strategic initiatives, including process changes, system integrations, and capital investments.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong understanding of manufacturing costing methods, variance capitalization, and inventory valuation.
Ability to interpret complex financial data and translate analysis into actionable recommendations.
Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
Discreet handling of confidential information.
Ability to meet tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
Advanced proficiency in Excel, MS Teams, and BI reporting tools.
Knowledge of Oracle ERP and Hyperion is preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
7+ years of experience in Finance or Accounting, preferably in a plant accounting role.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
History of successful collaboration across departments such as IT and operations.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to translate financial analysis into clear and actionable recommendations.
