Job Title:
OCVIBE Communications Manager

Pay Details:
The annual base salary range for this position in California is $69,000 to $77,500 per year. The starting pay for the successful candidate depends on various job-related factors, including but not limited to the candidate's geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education/training, internal value, peer equity, external market demands, and organizational considerations.

OCVIBE is seeking a dynamic and strategic Communications Manager to play a pivotal role in shaping the narrative and public perception of this groundbreaking entertainment and sports district in the heart of Orange County. The ideal candidate will possess a passion for storytelling, a keen understanding of media relations, and a proven track record of successfully managing communications strategies in the entertainment, sports, real estate, or hospitality industry. This individual will collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to develop and execute comprehensive communication plans that drive awareness, engagement, and excitement for OCVIBE. The Communications manager will develop and create media materials across various categories such as Restaurants, Retail, Residential, Office Spaces, Brand, Hotel Partnerships, Special Events, and Parking. The ideal candidate will be an outstanding, flexible communicator who can work independently, has experience working with and providing counsel to executives, and enjoys collaborating on multiple projects in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment.

Responsibilities

External Communications
  • Develop and implement strategic communications plans to promote OCVIBE's brand identity, initiatives, events, and offerings to target audiences, including residents, visitors, media, influencers, and stakeholders
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets, journalists, bloggers, and influencers to secure positive coverage and press opportunities
  • Coordinate and manage announcements (partnerships, construction updates, programming, openings, and more), collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to ensure strategic objectives and messaging alignment This involves drafting press materials, coordinating media opportunities, and overseeing the execution of announcements
  • Work closely with OCVIBE's PR agency to develop and execute integrated communication strategies and campaigns that leverage media relations, social media, events, and other channels to amplify OCVIBE's messaging and reach target audiences effectively
  • Plan and execute media events, press conferences, and influencer activations to generate excitement and buzz around OCVIBE's key milestones, initiatives, and launches
  • Develop and maintain communication materials to support media outreach and stakeholder engagement efforts, including press kits, fact sheets, talking points, and presentations
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and interview requests, ensuring timely and accurate responses that align with OCVIBE's messaging and objectives

Crisis Communications
  • Manage crisis communication efforts, developing protocols, messaging frameworks, and response strategies to effectively manage and mitigate potential issues or crises
  • Monitor media coverage, social media conversations, and industry trends to identify emerging issues and proactively address them

Internal Collaboration
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including communications, marketing, development, public affairs, corporate partnership, and programming, to ensure cohesive messaging and alignment across all communication channels
  • Work with internal communications team members on the communication calendar
  • Review OCVIBE's digital presence, including website content, social media platforms, and email newsletters, to ensure brand alignment and overall communication

Analytics
  • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of communication initiatives and campaigns and identify areas for optimization and improvement
  • Provide insights and recommendations for optimization and improvement based on KPI data

Specifics
  • Reports directly to the Director, Media, and Communications and works closely with the Marketing Team, Cross-Functional Leaders, and outside PR Agency
  • Special Projects as assigned

Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in communications, public relations, or related field, with a focus on entertainment, sports, hospitality, or destination marketing
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful communications strategies and campaigns that drive brand awareness, engagement, and growth
  • Strong media relations skills, with established relationships with local, regional, and national media outlets, journalists, bloggers, and influencers
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives, press releases, pitches, and other communication materials
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate trends, identify opportunities, and develop creative solutions to achieve business objectives
  • Detail-oriented with strong project management and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, content management systems, and media monitoring and analytics tools
  • Experience with event planning and execution, including media events, press conferences, and influencer activations
  • Self-starter who is versed in working independently
  • Ability to handle confidential information
