Reporting to the General Manager, you will be a part of a dynamic and engaged Senior Leadership Team and be responsible for the delivery to plan from the mining operations to ensure a constant stream of ore to the processing plant including both quantity and quality. You will use your leadership skills to lead all mine operational functions including production and maintenance, and have responsibility for the management of mining contractors.
The successful incumbent will ensure the mining department targets are met in a safe, efficient manner by Gold Fields' "Safe Production" standards and fully compliant with relevant legislative and statutory requirements. You will have the ability to understand the value driver model for the site and how mining affects this.

About the role:
Provide clarity, guidance, and consistency to the underground operation by setting clear and achievable objectives within the specific budget parameters that meet the strategic and business plans for the mine.
Manage all operational, technical, people, and commercial aspects of the underground operations by monitoring and addressing compliance against planned goals and objectives.
Control underground operation activities by approving plans, reviewing, and reporting against benchmarks and actively aligning plans when required.
Review proposed mining methods, equipment purchases, equipment usage, and allocation, to continuously improve the outputs from the mine.
Oversee cost, production, and energy effectiveness of the mine by advocating for and sponsoring business improvement and technology projects.
Support the organisation’s sustainable growth by driving the implementation and maintenance of underground operations and organisational processes and drive standardisation and compliance across operations by setting and enforcing adherence to company policies, procedures, and processes.
Consistently lead and act in a manner that demonstrates commitment to the safety culture and performance of Gold Fields.
Support a learning organisation & diverse thinking to meet business requirements.
About you:
An enthusiastic and authentic leadership style, looking to commit to a long-term project.
A Degree in Engineering (Mining).
WA First Class Mine Manager’s Certificate of Competency (or the prerequisite requirements to obtain) or Unrestricted Quarry Managers Certificate.
Significant experience in underground operational management, gold mining preferable, in the resources sector in Australia.
Contract management experience working collaboratively with mining contractors.
