About the Role:

Network Engineering Manager

Job Summary:

The Manager of Network Engineering provides technical and managerial leadership in the design planning operation maintenance and advanced troubleshooting of the SelectQuote network and security infrastructure. This position ensures continuity and alignment of the SelectQuotes network and security administration/engineering direction and plans with all divisions including Auto and Home Senior Life Corporate and Marketing. The Network Engineering Manager participates in architecting the network and security infrastructure. The Manager will also participate in the development of guidelines procedures and standards.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has direct supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for technical and managerial leadership in establishing goals and priorities design planning day-to-day operation maintenance and advanced troubleshooting of the network and security infrastructure

  • Monitor vendor compliance with SLAs and other commitments and provide management reports and other qualitative data to measure the effectiveness of field tech teams and delivered network integrity

  • Develop organizational structure and ongoing workflows to deliver/maintain rigorous networking standards and practices across the engineering staff and the company

  • Work closely with the assigned engineering staff to develop each team member in their assigned role

  • Coordinate solutions and necessary escalations with vendors and field personnel for service delivery issues

  • Establishes and manages internal service level agreements and ensures external service level agreements with vendors are met.

  • Ensures that service resources are assigned for the timely resolution of problems related to circuits switches and overall network performance

  • Lead infrastructure builds in new facilities including but not limited to cloud environments.

  • Measure monitor and maintain teams ability to meet or exceed contact and resolution Service Level Agreements (SLA)

  • Responsible for personnel management performance reviews competency development and coaching staff

  • Organizes plans assigns and monitors completion of work

  • Prepares documentation defining policies to be established with leadership approval providing supporting documentation and specifications as needed

  • Hands on configuration and troubleshooting will be needed by the manager directly

Skills/Abilities:

  • Expert skills troubleshooting access-lists IPv4 and IPv6 issues across varying protocols such as OSPF BGP Static Routing

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to work well with people from different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience.

  • Ability to manage numerous projects and activities simultaneously ensuring the correct priorities are assigned and initiatives are completed within resource constraints

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum eight years of experience in network engineering.

  • Minimum five years of experience managing a technical staff

  • Must have Knowledge of Cisco Firewall appliances or Fortinet equipment and operations.

  • Bachelors Degree with a major in Electrical Engineering Telecommunications Computer Science or related field preferred

  • Experience implementing various routing protocols to include OSPF BGP and static routes

  • Experience implementing hybrid data-center networking including Cisco ACI multi-site AWS direct connect and storage gateway Azure express route and site recovery

  • Hands-on experience implementing virtual networking including VMware NSX Cisco ACI and networking in AWS and Azure

  • Experience developing and implementing operational plans processes and infrastructure methodologies and training team members on these plans to meet contract SLA/SLR requirements

Certificates/Licenses/Registration

  • Must have current Network design Certifications and Cisco CCNP or equal

  • Certification in AWS networking speciality + deep understanding of AWS Networking required

Physical Requirements:

  • Work is performed indoors with potential for exposure to safety and health hazards related to office work. Could periodically travel to other office and operational sites. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Willing to participate in the on call schedule

The Compensation for this position is listed below. Local minimum wage laws apply. Individual pay decisions will depend on job-related factors such as experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location where work will be performed.

Successful candidates may be able to participate in one or more incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, which could generate additional earnings in accordance with the terms of each plan.

$135,000
