Summary:
The Equipment Operator responsibilities include performing routine equipment checks and maintenance, loading and unloading equipment, and ensuring sites are kept clean and equipment is safely turned off and stored. You will also observe the distribution of concrete and complete relevant paperwork and reports.

Essential Functions include but are not limited to:

  • Ensures all equipment is maintained and used in accordance with company health and safety regulations.
  • Cleans, lubricates, and performs regular safety checks on equipment.
  • Ensures equipment is properly positioned before turning it on and off or loading and unloading it.
  • Trains new crew members in the safe operation of equipment.
  • Performs other construction duties as needed.
  • Observes the safe distribution of materials.
  • Promptly reports all faults, injuries or accidents to the Supervisor or Manager.
  • Attends meetings and refresher courses to ensure responsible equipment operation.
  • Identifies faults and troubleshoots equipment as required.
  • Maneuvers motorized heavy equipment to ensure the accurate removal and placement of materials.
  • Loads and offloads rocks, debris, and other materials from heavy equipment.
  • Communicates with coworkers to clearly explain project specifications, as needed.
  • Aids coworkers to ensure that the site is clean and organized at the end of each shift.
  • Provides suggestions to refine workflow and boost efficiency.

  • Relevant license and safety certification.
  • Prior experience operating a variety of heavy equipment.
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow orders, especially under pressure.
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines.
  • A sound understanding of health and safety codes.
  • A positive outlook and a willingness to learn.
  • Capacity to provide and follow direction.
  • Ability to work extended hours, as required

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
  • Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Climb ladders.
  • Possess good vision (normal or corrected).
  • Carry material from one location to another or floor to floor.
  • Lifting and working with tools above head.
  • Lifting, positioning, and fastening of heavy equipment or materials.
