Entry level & experienced CAD designers in Knoxville learning how to work with blueprints, draw floor plan requirements for fire sprinkler systems to ensure compliance, layout of fire sprinkler systems, field surveys, part listings, and provide field labor support.
Pay: $17.00-$18.00

Entry level CAD Design Trainee Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

• Learn and demonstrate knowledge of fire sprinkler codes, building codes and city/county regulations.
• Learn to design automatic sprinkler systems including fire pumps, tanks, wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems and perform hydraulic calculations for each design.
• Learn to prepare submittal packages to send to (AHJ) Authority Having Jurisdiction and subsequent correspondence to achieve design approval.
• Prepare lists for pipe fabrication vendor and requisition materials for job.? Learn to perform field surveys to ensure design is appropriate for structure.? Assist field personnel with design related installation issues.? Learn to prepare and submit final job close-out documents after final acceptance testing.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); 0-1 year of previous sprinkler design, mechanical aptitude and installation experience preferred.

Computer Skills

Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, experience with or knowledge of SprinkCad, AutoCad, or HydroCAD.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to perform hydraulic calculations and other standard functions.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Experienced Fire Sprinkler Designer role is responsible for designing fire protection systems for industrial, commercial and residential applications, completing project designs and submittals. Pay:DOE. Benefits: Medical, Dental Vision

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Design fire protection sprinkler systems, including fire pumps, tanks, wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems, with accuracy and detail to enable field installation with few design errors.
• Submit design plans to proper department leadership for approval and obtain permits as required.
• Calculate figures to convert design dimensions to resizing dimensions specified for subsequent production.
• Design fire protection sprinkler systems within allocated hours for each job.
• Review work order and procedural manuals to determine critical dimensions of design.
• Prepare submittal packages and subsequent correspondence to achieve design approval.
• Prepare fabrication lists for pipe fabrication vendor and requisition materials for job.
• Perform field surveys to ensure design is appropriate for structure.
• Assist field personnel with design related installation issues.
• Prepare and submit final job close-out documents after final acceptance testing.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. NICET Certification a plus .

Computer Skills:

SprinkCad preferred, AutoCad, or HydroCAD, Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
