The National Security Sector combines technology-enabled services and mission software capabilities for defense and intel customers in the areas of cyber, logistics, security operations, and decision analytics.

The National Security Sector at Leidos is hiring for a Chief Technologist who is deeply passionate about space-based systems and ready to take on an exhilarating endeavor focused on development and integration to support the Customer. We are seeking someone with expertise in Range-Systems Engineering and a strong foundation in project and financial management. This position is for an upcoming government contract.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Collaborate with Range Systems Engineers to analyze the maintenance costs, operational reliability, and lifecycle of current range systems.
  • Devise comprehensive plans for both long-term and short-term enhancements of range systems.
  • Coordinate, conduct, and participate in collaboration meetings with the Government and other stakeholders.
  • Evaluate alternative system concepts, physical architectures, and design solutions.
  • Produce thorough documentation such as strategic road maps and trade studies to upgrade technology, where appropriate and approved, to enable new range capabilities, increase efficiency, improve mission reliability, and reduce range operation costs.
  • Conduct in-depth technical intra-company collaboration.

What does Leidos need from me?

  • An active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance is required.
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 12 plus years of prior relevant experience or Master's degree with 10 plus years of pertinent experience in the fields of space, range, or instrumentation technology. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project/program management with a minimum of five years of experience, including proficiency in financial and budget management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • The ability to communicate and work effectively with other contractors and Government civilians.
  • Highly organized with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member under tight deadlines with changing priorities.

Favorable if you have:

  • Technical program management experience.
  • Master's degree in engineering or physical science.
  • Doctorate in engineering or physical science.
  • Prior experience as a Chief Engineer, Chief Technology Officer, or similar position on a major program.
  • PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $122,200.00 - $220,900.00

Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
